You may be asking, "Why should my organization be a member of the California Health Care Coalition (CHCC)?"
Simply stated, there are many reasons to be a part of the CHCC.
|
First, CHCC offers health care purchasing groups and other health care stakeholders an opportunity to collectively meet the challenges of improving the quality of the health care delivery system and lowering health care costs for all. CHCC is already recognized as an effective voice for health care purchasers and consumers by the major carriers and has participated in four CEO Summits with the heads of the major carriers, over the last year.
CHCC also holds a seat on the California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Taskforce (CHART). Even the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH) recognizes CHCC as a valuable partner for improving the quality and value of the health care delivery system in California.
Next, CHCC is making it possible for smaller, more regional groups to create local initiatives to address local health care quality issues and health care delivery costs. CHCC currently works with the San Diego Purchasers Cooperative and the Fresno Area Quality Care Initiative group to address local health care challenges. And, CHCC is exploring how other CHCC members can help their communities create their own local and regional groups to directly impact health care in their communities.
Finally, CHCC has been working with John Glynn & Associates to develop a Hospital Value Scorecard analytic tool that will offer CHCC member organizations and their constituencies the opportunity to compare hospitals based on quality, outcomes and costs. This analytic tool should prove valuable in helping subscribers chose hospitals that offer the best outcomes at reasonable prices (i.e., "value") for their services.
Until now, the value of CHCC membership may have seemed abstract and conceptual and sometimes difficult for CHCC members to articulate to their various constituencies. But have faith! CHCC’s Board is working hard to magnify CHCC member organizations’ impact on the health care system through education and information and to fulfill CHCC’s mission:
"To collaborate with all health care stakeholders to promote high quality health care for all Californians."
