Modesto, CA – August 2007 - Doctors Medical Center (DMC) and
the California Health Care Coalition (CHCC) have signed a direct
agreement for healthcare services which includes a unique Pay
for Quality Improvement (PQI) initiative designed to foster
better patient care and patient health. The agreement, which
enables participating CHCC member organizations with plan
beneficiaries in Modesto to directly contract with DMC for
medical services, includes quarterly performance reviews,
benchmarking to support the highest quality patient care, and
very competitive pricing.
“CHCC seeks working partnerships with accountable, high value
providers. Our goal is to assure that California families and
communities have timely access to medical care that is
appropriate, evidence-based, patient-centered,
prevention-oriented, efficiently delivered, and fairly priced.
Doctors Medical Center has stepped forward to work with CHCC and
members of the community to improve the quality and
affordability of health care services, said Sally Covington,
spokesperson for CHCC. “We look forward to a long and productive
partnership.”
“We at DMC are proud to offer quality health care services to
the members of the CHCC and look forward to active collaboration
in CHCC’s PQI initiative,” stated DMC Chief Executive Officer,
Dennis Litos. “Their members will have access to all of our
hospital’s extensive services including cardiac care in our
technologically advanced Cardiac Center, women and children’s
services that include the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit in Stanislaus County, Emergency and Trauma Services,
Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Oncology and Critical/Intensive
Care.”
CHCC is a statewide membership organization of employers,
unions and health and welfare funds, currently representing 3
million Californians. Members of the Coalition are determined to
reduce health costs and improve quality without degrading
benefits. Self-insured purchasers in Modesto may obtain
evaluation copies of the agreement and CHCC members can
participate in the direct agreement with DMC. CHCC plans to
negotiate similar agreements with Tenet and other hospitals in
selected areas of California where it has concentrated
membership. To learn more about CHCC, visit
